New exhibit on British fashion at Kunstmuseum Den Haag

Alongside her many titles and admirable traits, it’s safe to say that, before her death in 1997, Diana Spencer was a true fashion icon. Whether it was the renowned so-called Revenge Dress or her more down-to-earth street style, Princess Diana continues to inspire many an outfit around the world.

With 2023 marking 26 years since her death, fans of the Princess of Wales might be excited to hear that they’ll soon have the chance to see some items of clothing worn by Lady Di herself in the flesh as part of a new exhibition in The Hague

Dutch museum highlights influence of British designers and style icons

The Royals & Rebels – British Fashion exhibition, the museum explains, explores “how the Brits have led world fashion,” highlighting designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney, and, yes, style icons including “the beloved Princess Diana”.

“As well as a fashion icon, she was also a rebel who used fashion to make a statement,” Kunstmuseum Den Haag’s website reads. As part of the exhibition – which opens on September 9 and runs until January 7, 2024 – visitors will be able to feast their eyes on a black Chanel jacket designed by Karl Lagerfeld as well as a glittery cocktail dress designed by Catherine Walker, both worn by Princess Diana.
