Loyal shoppers of the Weissenbruchstraat in Benoordenhout have long since discovered it.
The pet store has moved and has made way for a new children’s clothing store: Petit
Robilou.

The owner is Eline Teunissen (34), mother of 2 children. After 06 years as purchasing manager
after working at a production company, she decided it was time to follow her dream and open her own clothing store

‘When my favorite children’s clothing store closed, it started to itch’
”After studying Textile Management, I was sure that I wanted to open my own business one day.
But you don’t start something like that immediately after graduating. I first started working at a
clothing production company, and I did that for ten years. When my favorite children’s clothing store was
going to close, it started to itch.

I always drove to Wassenaar especially for it. I thought that was the only really nice store in the area. Continuing the business had many advantages: I was able to maintain contacts with buyers and take over the range of brands. Still, I didn’t dare to take the step then. Until I saw via Instagram that the store had a closing sale, then I immediately contacted and that’s how Petit Robilou was born.”
Born and raised
The location of the children’s clothing store was not chosen at random. Eline was born and raised in
Benoordenhout and she likes to be back here: “The store fits in well with the neighbourhood. The
clothing is classic, wearable and tough. No hassle with complicated buttons, for example, but nice
sets that the children can also wear to school, not just to a party. I
regularly run into well-known neighbors and (parents of) old classmates in the store. I like that very

Good advice
”Looking back, I am very happy that I 10 have worked for a clothing production company for years. As a buyer
I have worked a lot with fabrics, so I quickly feel what is good. I look closely at the quality and how the
fit is. I also like to give people good advice. Customers regularly come back to the store
to thank me for the help, for example when a gift has been well received. That gives me
satisfaction. Or when someone who is heavily pregnant comes to buy a package and returns later with the baby.
The contact with the neighborhood is very nice and I have built up a relationship with a
part of my clients for a short period of time. In the future I hope to grow even further in terms of range. In just 9
months I have already expanded the collection quite a bit.”
