The Hague has a new hidden gem. At the Gedempte Gracht 2021 you will find Five-K Comfort Food. A hip restaurant concept with a terrace outside in the future.

At the moment there is a lot of renovation going on at the corner of the Spui and the Gedempte Gracht. The entrance to the new restaurant is therefore a bit hidden. Nevertheless, we recommend that you come and take a look at this case.

Insta-worthy interior

Five-K is open from the beginning of March. After a warm welcome we took a seat at a large round table in a cozy alcove. The restaurant has a super fresh decor that is slightly different. Five-K has yellow and teal accents. We sat on velvet green high sofas and trendy graffiti art on the wall. On the other wall, bright yellow and white neon letters with the text “Love Me” shine at you. Upon entering you will see a large logo on the wall. On the other side, there is a Mahjong parlor game on the wall that serves as art.

Flex workplaces

The restaurant would like to attract the younger crowd. Therefore the choice of location, close to the cinema where many young people come. The owner takes advantage of this by facilitating various chargers in the business. Moreover, as a freelancer or student you can work comfortably at one of the spacious tables.

*)Asian Fusion

At Five-K you will find comfort food dishes from Asia with a touch of Western cuisine. On the menu you will find the Ufo buns, burgers, wings, various salads and snacks. Ideal for sharing, but if you prefer to eat them yourself, that is of course no problem.

We start our lunch with a Melon and Blueberry soda float (4,50 euros). This is a soft drink with a scoop of ice cream in it. Definitely worth trying! We order the Ufo bun curry chicken (7,21 euro) together with the Wings sweet soy sauce (6,21 euro for 6 pieces), steamed rice (3,21 euros) , the Chicken katsu burger (06 euros) and finally the Shrimp toast (6,50 euros for 2 pieces). I share all dishes with my guest.

What did we think?

They use fresh ingredients and homemade flavors and you can taste it! The Ufo bun was fluffy and richly filled with curry chicken. We had never eaten a Ufo bun before, but we’re done. The wings are nice and tender and the taste of the sweet soy sauce was authentic and well balanced. The chicken katsu burger was huge and is a meal in itself and we didn’t eat it all. Finally, the shrimp toast is highly recommended, to lick your fingers.

The service and the staff was very hospitable and friendly. As a fan of Asian cuisine, we will definitely come back here. The restaurant is open 6 days a week from 10. hours to 50. o’clock. They are closed on Tuesdays.
