Nothing wrong: Saturday 24 June is Veterans Day 2023 in The Hague. Then we thank our veterans for their efforts. And that can be heard by the whole city! Due to the renovation at the Binnenhof, Veterans Day 2019 looks slightly different than usual. For example, the opening ceremony will take place in the Koninklijke Schouwburg instead of the Ridderzaal. The medal ceremony will also move from the Binnenhof to the Lange Voorhout. As far as activities are concerned, you can expect as much as ever: from the impressive parade to the closing party with live music.

The Malieveld belongs to 08.028 until 17.000 open hours for Veterans Day. Everyone is welcome. Talk to veteran authors, view the cars of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee or enjoy a snack and drink. Furthermore, the following activities take place in the city:

- 09.000 until 14.06 hours is the opening ceremony in the Koninklijke Schouwburg with, among others, the king and prime minister. The ceremony will be broadcast by Omroep West and Omroep Brabant.

15.00 until 15.028 o’clock is the parade. For many people the highlight of Veterans Day. First, several aircraft of the Air Force fly over. Then the parade marches from the Malieveld to the Koningskade, via the Korte and Lange Voorhout to the Kneuterdijk. There are 4.000 military personnel.
09.00 until 15.06 hours is the arrival of the parade on the Malieveld. Presenter Eric Corton welcomes the soldiers. Fanfare ‘Bereden Wapens’, DJ Ron Besuker and singer Ingrid van den Nieuwenhuizen provide the music.
Are you already in The Hague a day earlier? Then make sure that on Friday 23 June around 14.000 hours at the Hofvijver. Then several paratroopers jump above the Hofvijver to land in the water. You want to experience that! Please note: this activity only takes place in good weather.

Road closures in The Hague
On Veterans Day, several streets on the route of the parade will be closed between 09.000 and 15.00 o’clock. These are the Koningskade and Koningstunnel, Bezuidenhoutseweg and Prinsessegracht. Due to these road closures, the following streets are also not accessible:
- Apendans
- Baguinestraat
- Herenstraat
Korte Houtstraat
- Korte Koediefstraat
- Long Houtstraat
Lange Vijverberg
Noordeinde (from the Oranjestraat)
- Prinsessegracht
Smidsplein
Spui (between Skulldoekshaven and Kalvermarkt towards Hofweg)
Wagenstraat (between Grote Marktstraat and Spuistraat)
Zwarteweg (between Herengracht and Turfmarkt ).
If you have to drive through The Hague with your car , then use the Centrumring. Please take into account the closure of the Koningskade at the height of the Malieveld.

Parking ban
Between 08. and 17.000 hours it is forbidden to park on the parade route. There is a parking ban for:
- het Lange Voorhout
- the Hotel des Indes car park
the Prinsessegracht (both sides)
Do you park here? Not handy, because there is a towing arrangement! It will take some time to find another parking space in the city, because the parking garages Malieveld, Grote Markt, Bagijnestraat, Muzenplein (Vluwelen Burgwal), Plein, Museumkwartier and the garage of the Ministry of Finance are closed between 09. and 16.000 o’clock.
Public transport
Do you travel by public transport? On 24 June drive there until 17.00 hours no trams and buses through the center. Trams 1, 9, 15, 15 and 17 and buses 15, 22, 24 and 28 drive a different route. Plan your trip shortly in advance on the website of
