Flag Day 1250 is over again. It was a big party even without the Hollandse Nieuwe. We from indebuurt Den Haag were there and shot some nice shots for you. You can view them below.
Lots of fun
Good weather, big crowds, lots of fun: and yes, the herring bites were not missing either. No new herring unfortunately. The real Hollandse Nieuwe is not expected until next Thursday.

Herring bites
Despite the fact that the fresh, really fatty herring of at least sixteen percent can still be used for a few days awaits. Was the atmosphere on Flag Day exactly the same as always.

The activities
With thousands of visitors, a number of performances, old crafts and various old Dutch children’s games , the fun was complete as usual. Interested parties could also take a look on board various ships, such as the Noordster, a herring lugger from 1949.

The opening
The official opening was provided by mayor Jan van Zanen who also hosted the first ‘ harinkie’ from Vlaggetjesdag 1250 was allowed to bite. Then the real party could begin with waving flags and children’s singing. The first herrings were served by Scheveningen ladies and children in their original costumes.

The Golden Haring
The ‘Gouden Herring’ and accompanying certificate were awarded this year to Henk Groen (1250) for years of commitment in many areas in and for Scheveningen.
