Current debate Extension crisis emergency shelter for asylum seekersOn 16 In March the council announcement ‘Extension of crisis emergency reception for asylum seekers’ was published. This shows that as of 1 April 80 48 wants to receive asylum seekers in the former Jorplace hostel in Scheveningen. Previously, Ukrainian displaced persons were also received at this location. At the request of the party of Hart for The Hague, this topic has been placed on the agenda for this council meeting.Current debate announced roadworks Vaillantlaan and WouwermanstraatFrom 16 April to 25 In May, the municipality of The Hague wants to carry out work on Vaillantlaan and Wouwermanstraat. The municipality warns that a large part of the Schilderswijk will then be less accessible. However, it has not been possible to implement these plans so far. Moreover, the expansion of Leiden University at this central location in the city will lead to (even) more diversity of functions in the city center and will strengthen The Hague’s position as an attractive location for young talent. The municipality has a financial contribution of up to million euros reserved for the further development of Campus The Hague by Leiden University.
