The Grote Marktstraat is often an exciting street for cycling and walking, last month it got even scarier; in a few places the tiles were higgledy-piggledy. So there will be work soon.

The road surface of the Grote Marktstraat has been badly broken. Super link for road users, of course. Fortunately, the municipality has a solution: (mega slippery) plastic plates 🤣

In March of this year they also saw that at the municipality in some places of the Grote Marktstraat the paving is coming loose. They temporarily solved that by replacing the tiles with asphalt or bricks. A solution that does not deserve the beauty prize and that is why other adjustments are coming soon.

New tiles?

More and more tiles are lying higgledy-piggledy, but they are not replaced. The fact that they are loose is because of the bad joints. The joints have completely disappeared in some places because too much freight traffic drives over them. Restoration work will begin in the first week of June. Then the joints of the tiles in the Grote Marktstraat will be replaced by another type that is better for heavy freight traffic. The work will take four weeks.
