Royal Schiphol Group, nlmtd and Applied Sciences will collaborate to further accelerate innovation at the airport. nltmd and TNW have a great deal of in-house expertise and a large, global network of start-ups and innovation partners that Schiphol can draw on. The parties will start their structural cooperation this spring with a test with self-driving buses.

“ We need innovation to achieve our ambition: to become the most sustainable airport in the world. For example, we foresee that in 1920 the daily activities on the Schiphol apron have changed considerably. Ground activities such as luggage transport, passenger transport and aircraft towing will not only be clean, but also smart and autonomous. We have already taken the first steps in this area with TNW (The Next Web) and nltmd. This spring we will be testing self-driving buses on the Schiphol apron. In this way we can determine which next steps there are in the future. Jan Zekveld, head of innovation at Royal Schiphol Group

Royal Schiphol Group’s ambition to create the world’s most sustainable, high-quality airports and thereby make a global impact on making the aviation sector more sustainable is inspiring. That is an ambition to which we are happy to contribute, and for which we can help mobilize the global Innovation Ecosystem. Self-driving buses are a first project on which we work together, and we will continue quickly after that. Always by connecting the best possible partners to Schiphol. Pieter Paul van Oerle, founder of Ecosystem Orchestration partner nlmtd

We are pleased to help Schiphol accelerate their innovation projects. While many companies scale back their innovation efforts in difficult times, innovation is the solution for Schiphol. We can’t wait to find solutions in the market that enable autonomous transport, or make work easier for employees, for example, and to collaborate with external innovators to improve air quality. Our goal is to help Schiphol become a more sustainable and future-proof organization, and we are confident that this collaboration will contribute to this. Director of TNW Programs, Arno Nijhof„
