Where did that banana come from?
Phil van Klundert
After some research we already knew the banana. Just like a large apple, pear, orange, tomato and a bunch of grapes, this banana used to be on the site of the Leyenburg hospital. The fruit has been moved to the Zuiderpark and only the banana is left, because the polyester from which the fruit is made turned out not to be that strong. But thanks to the relocation, the banana seems to be holding up well.
Now of course you also want to know who made that banana. That was the Hague artist Phil van Klundert. He is in 99 was born in The Hague and also went to the free academy here. In 1975 Phil made the artificial fruit for hospital Leyenburg.
