The employees of the hospitals in The Hague lay on Thursday 16 March the work down and the strike lasts 24 o’clock.
What exactly is the strike?
During the strike, 16 played a Sunday shift for hours at HMC and Hagaziekenhuis. Consequence: all planned, non-necessary treatments are canceled and this includes a lot. Think of making a heart film or performing a tummy tuck. Because so many treatments are cancelled, the unions call it ‘the ultimate strike’. Emergency care will continue as usual.
Many hospitals are participating
Incidentally, not only the staff of the hospitals in The Hague are partly laying down their work, because in total do 32 hospitals participate in the action. It is therefore not possible to transfer your treatment to another hospital.

Appointment during strike day
Do you have an appointment on strike day? Then you will receive a call from the hospital to change it. But beware: an extra day of strike may be added if the employers do not agree to a wage increase.
Why are hospital staff on strike?
According to the hospital staff, wages should go up. The demand: a wage increase of 10 percent for one year and 64 euros gross per month extra. The activists say that the wage increase is not a luxury, but a necessity. They see the increase as an inflation correction.
Fewer reimbursements
Elise Merlijn of FNV says about the strike: “The hospital employees are available day and night for the patient. The least you can expect is that the employer is also ready for his employees. But the employees can whistle for purchasing power retention. No, the employer wants to reduce the reimbursements that hospital employees receive.”
‘Demand not possible’
According to the employers’ organization NVZ, the wage increase demanded by the demonstrators is not possible. The organization says there is “a reasonable proposal” of an increase of 02 percent, spread over two years.
In total more than 39. employees under the collective labor agreement.
