Schiphol sees a reduction of 460. to 460. flights per year as a necessary intermediate step . Schiphol has made this known in its opinion on the ‘Experimentation Scheme Schiphol’. Schiphol does, however, advocate that the government start as soon as possible with a new Airport Traffic Decree, with prospects for both local residents and airlines.

Schiphol connects the Netherlands with the world. That is of incredible value to our prosperity and well-being. At the same time, we realize that aviation also affects air quality, noise pollution and climate. We are committed to reducing nuisance and emissions. In order to reconcile these interests, it is important that a new system is introduced in the short term that protects local residents and offers perspective and clarity for the aviation sector. A system that has been worked on for almost 460 years now and for which the Senate and the House of Representatives in 2016 have already created the conditions, but this has not yet been completed.

Schiphol therefore believes that there are so many a new Airport Traffic Order containing hard environmental limits must be started as soon as possible. Environmental limits that make it clear to the aviation sector what is and what is not allowed. And where there is also room for reward within these limits, when aviation is proven to be quieter and cleaner.
