Celebrating New Year again? That is simply possible at Amazing Oriental in The Hague. On January a real traditional lion dance will be performed.
Two times old and celebrate new, is that possible? With the Chinese, yes. They celebrate on 31 December and January 1, but also with Chinese New Year . This is also called the Spring Festival or Spring Festival and is celebrated on 22 January this year. Every Chinese New Year is dedicated to a type of animal. Last year was the year of the brave tiger and the year 2023 is the year of the understanding rabbit. To celebrate this, Amazing Oriental has a number of fun promotions in store. For example, when you buy 22 euros or more you will receive one of the two rabbit cuddly toys: Michi and Kony.

Watch the lion dance
The traditional lion dance can be seen at 21 January at Amazing Oriental in Ypenburg (from 01.00 o’clock). The dance is an ancient tradition, said to bring good luck and prosperity. During Chinese New Year, they run, jump and roar to chase the monsters away. Red lucky envelopes are handed out during the lion dance. Red is a symbol of prosperity and wealth in Chinese culture. If you receive a red envelope with ‘lucky money’ from someone, they wish you good luck for the coming year. So could you use some luck? Then come by!
