At near The Hague we only write about The Hague and its surroundings, but that does not mean that we never go away for a night or weekend. Of course we do that in our own city. Last summer we tried out a number of new or special hotels in The Hague.

Would you like to get away for a night or have guests from outside the city, perhaps one of these hotels has a nice place to stay.

Hotel Voco

The old ABN AMRO building on the Kneuterdijk has been converted into a luxury hotel. It’s a beautiful property. We would like to take a look inside, and of course not only look but also sleep. And we did.

The room is neatly decorated with few frills. Nice detail is that a gigantic travel case that functions as a cupboard. And we’ve heard that the duvet is made from recycled PET bottles. You don’t feel a thing, because it was wonderfully soft.

‘t Goude Hooft

‘T Goude Hooft was the oldest inn in The Hague and has now become one of the city’s best-known restaurants. Did you know that you can also spend the night there? There are a total of eight suites at this historic location in the city center of The Hague.

The rooms all have a Hague name. There is the Binnenhof and the Mauritshuis. We stayed in Huis ten Bosch. The suite has a separate sitting area, a kitchenette, a spacious bathroom and bedroom and even a walk-in closet.

The Salon van Fagel

Wake up early on Sunday by the croaking of a duck. You don’t expect that in the middle of the center of The Hague, but that is exactly what happened to us after a night’s stay in the renovated boutique hotel De Salon van Fagel on Noordeinde.

As soon as we entered our room we were surprised by the fuchsia purple wall with golden peacocks. Very cool detail. The golden velvet chairs also looked cool and were comfortable.

Leonardo Royal Hotel

The Leonardo Royal Hotel The Hague Promenade is located between Madurodam and the World Forum, with the Van Stolkpark and the Scheveningse Bosjes at the rear.

You can relax in your room, but also in the spa of the hotel. There are no fewer than four different saunas (including one outside, on the terrace) and there is a swimming pool to swim laps in.

Ibis Styles The Hague City Center

The Ibis Styles The Hague City Center building was designed by the famous architect Berlage. Our room is therefore completely in the style of Berlage, without frills. It is neat and tidy with colors in calm natural tones. We are especially impressed by the view: we look down on the Kerkplein and you can see all the liveliness passing by.

EasyHotel

The location of budget EasyHotel City Center is perfect if, for example, you’re going out for a night out. From the Parkstraat you can walk to the Plein via the Lange Voorhout. My room is on the first floor and is basic but sleek, with the well-known orange colors here and there.

The whole room is super clean but, it must be said, not very cosy. That’s not what it’s about at EasyHotels: you pay around € 39,- per night.
