During the holiday period and at weekends there is plenty to do in The Hague. But there are times when you want to get out of the city for a fun day out. If you do want an outing, but don’t want to be on the road for hours, we have listed a number of nice outings about half an hour’s drive from The Hague:

Avifauna in Alphen aan den Rijn is our top tip. This bird park is half an hour’s drive from The Hague. But don’t let that title fool you, because it is so much more than a park with birds.

You will find several prosimians here in a part of the park that you can walk through (only on your food), there is a very large playground for the kids and don’t forget the bird show, because (almost) all the cages of the animals are opened for that.

One of the nicest amusement parks in the The neighborhood can be found on the outskirts of The Hague with Rijswijk: Drievliet.

Here you will find attractions for young and old. Our favorite is Formula X where it looks like you are Max Verstappen himself.

At half an hour by car from The Hague you will find the Archeon in Alphen aan den Rijn. It’s like walking in different time zones of history in this special park. The buildings and actors immerse you completely in, for example, the time of the Romans or the Middle Ages: exciting!

Duinrell, who doesn’t know it. Fortunately, this park is also very close to The Hague. You can get there in no time by car, a bike ride doesn’t take long and the bus stops in front of the door. It couldn’t be easier.

Whether you enjoy the Kikkerkwak show dancing or get out of the Splash soaking wet: fun guaranteed.

With the tram you are in no time Zoetermeer, and there you will find one of the nicest museums for young and old. The National Videogame Museum can be found in the Stadshart shopping center.

You will find an enormous amount of gaming machines here, but also ‘good old’ Nintendos and other classic computers that you used to play on. And the cool thing is: you can play all games for free. Think gamehall 2.0!
