Earlier we reported that drivers of HTM were on strike on Thursday 2 June , now we are getting a message that the drivers of the regional buses are also laying down their work for a day. They went on strike on Wednesday, June 1.

Today the relay strike has started. This means that regional transport will be discontinued on different days in several places for two weeks. Tomorrow it’s our turn.
These buses do not run:
After a call round with several spokespersons, it turns out to be difficult to to indicate which buses are running and which are not. On Wednesday, regional transport in The Hague, Zoetermeer and Delft will cease, but not every driver will participate. The fact is that it is very uncertain whether your bus will run that day. The spokesperson for FNV says that she finds it very annoying not to have this information, she would have liked to give travelers some clarity.
Why strike?
The drivers above all want a higher pay for their work. Not only for themselves, but also to hopefully attract more young drivers. Marijn van der Gaag, director of FNV Streekvervoer: ‘Due to poor remuneration, too few new, young colleagues are added and the work pressure has been so high for years that absenteeism due to illness 13 percent. Employers really need to work harder for that.’
