It’s been a long wait for LEGO fanatics and Vincent van Gogh fans around the world, but the LEGO 3D set of Van Gogh’s Starry Night is finally here!
Van Gogh’s Starry Night gets a LEGO makeover
Last year, Truman Cheng (AKA Legotruman) from Hong Kong pitched his idea for a brand new 3D LEGO set via the LEGO Ideas Community – a user-generated platform that allows fans to submit their own designs and ideas for future building sets.
Cheng’s idea really took off and quickly met all the milestones outlined by the company. It didn’t take long until the design was being sent off to LEGO HQ. Now, just over a year later, the idea has become a reality.

LEGO and MoMA unveil a new take on a classic
The set is made up of 1.552 LEGO pieces in multiple tones of blue, green, yellow and brown, with a range of different sized rectangular and rounded shapes. It also includes a figurine of Vincent Van Gogh himself, complete with a paintbrush, palette, and easel.
The final design was created in conjunction with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York – where the original painting is on permanent display. “At MoMA, we celebrate the opportunity to connect art and audiences, and are thrilled to be part of a new way to experience van Gogh’s work, and to inspire the creative impulse in people of all ages,” said the museum’s Associate Director, Sarah Suzuki.
The LEGO Starry Night will be available online and in-store globally from June 1 for 169,99 euros.
