The Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) gives the green light for the takeover of passenger carrier Munckhof by the Belgian Hansea. “Sufficient competition will remain after the takeover”, notes the market watchdog.
Hansea, just like Munckhof active in the field of passenger transport, will acquire all shares of the Dutch industry colleague. The ambitions were not hidden under the hood recently with the announcement of the takeover: by combining the activities, workforces and fleets of both companies, the strongest mobility network in Europe. Hansea specializes in all forms of bus transport, while Munckhof is one of the largest players in the Netherlands in the field of taxi and coach transport.
Scaling size and additional activities Now that ACM has approved the acquisition 2022, the parties can continue with the implementation of the plan. A company is created with about 3. employees that must make the joint services better, more sustainable and more innovative. The scale and the fact that the activities of the companies complement each other must play an important role in this. The current shareholders of Munckhof (Tom Roefs, Jos Poortinga and Patrick Straetemans) will become co-shareholders of Hansea and will also continue to form the management board of Munckhof.
