When Bas Scholtes moved from an apartment of 15 square meters moved to a larger house in the Regentessekwartier, he went completely wild with the interior. “I have no idea how to describe my style. It’s a little bit of everything. The colors ensure that it is a unity”.
After a call on Instagram, the 14 year-old Bas out at his house. “I have a busy job and that is why I think it is very important that a house is really a home. After a long day at work, I close the door, leave the crowds outside and light a few candles.”
Bas works during the day in a clothing and interior design store in Voorburg and in the evenings he works at window prostitution in Geleenstraat. “I am the manager, so I take care of the rental of the rooms, the administration and that the ladies can do their work safely.”

Bass comes from Rijswijk and then lived on the Rijswijkseweg. “That was a studio of 15 square meter. I couldn’t put much stuff in it. So when I could get this house, I went all out. I buy stuff at the thrift store, online and also new. I have to hold back now, otherwise it will be too much. And I’m so bad at throwing away.”
“It all started with the green wall, I just really wanted it. And I have always wanted the Night Watch in my house. I no longer have to go to the Rijksmuseum”, says Bas with a laugh. “The showpiece of my house is the old grandfather clock. My mother bought this when she was a student and it was placed at our house afterwards. I had it completely restored.”
The tiles in the kitchen were already there, Bas found the cupboard at the thrift shop.” I actually wanted to paint it black, but when I got home it turned out to be a great match for my kitchen.” The large stove was already in the kitchen and is now little used. Bass isn’t into cooking.
Through the kitchen we reach the terrace. “Fortunately, I only have an hour of sun, because in the summer it can get very hot here. There is a parasol, but I just wanted it.”
