One of the great things about living in The Hague is that the beach is so close. Enjoy a breath of fresh air all year round. We often take a few extra deep breaths so that we get a lot of fresh, salty air. But what exactly is that salty air? We’ll figure it out.

You may be thinking ‘that answer is simple, isn’t it?! It is the salty sea that makes the salty air.’ So that’s not right. The correct answer will amaze you.

Corpse air

That ‘fresh’ salty air , which we like to inhale deeply, is actually a corpse smell. Wattttt! The salty air consists of the smell of rotten sea creatures such as dead fish, crabs and worms mixed with salt crystals.
