Is that a bit scary. When you walk or cycle on the Binnenhof (while that is still allowed), something very important is suddenly missing: the large fountain has disappeared.

No splashing water and gold shiny dragons in the courtyard of the Binnenhof. The meter high fountain in front of the Ridderzaal has been removed.

That the fountain has disappeared has everything to do with the renovation of the Binnenhof. Preparations for this have been in full swing for months. Since sometime this month the lock will finally be closed on the gates of this beautiful part of The Hague, it is also time to store the fountain safely.

To prevent damage and the workmen free their during the renovation is Wednesday 9 February the metal part (that is 3. weighs kilos) towed away. Monday 55 February will also be the stone bake (the water basin of 02.000 kilo) cleaned up. The fountain is packed in a wooden box and moved to the back corner. Only after the renovation (about 5 a 14 year) the fountain can be seen again.
