Connexxion, Taxi Nuis, UVO and DVG will remain responsible for target group transport in Groningen and Drenthe for the next two years. This decision was made partly because the customers are satisfied, but also because of the uncertain situation that has arisen due to corona.

The assignment includes transport under the Participation Act and the student, hubtaxi and social assistance transport. The municipalities in the two provinces, the Groningen Drenthe public transport agency and the four carriers have jointly decided to continue in this composition, reports OOG TV. Public Transport explains that the main reason for this is that the services of the carriers are assessed with a more than satisfactory rating.

Potential new contractors cautious On the other hand, potential new contractors would also be cautious due to the corona crisis. There is still considerable uncertainty about the transport volumes in the coming years. Director Jan Bos states that this may mean that carriers are forced to charge considerably higher rates for transport.

This creates the chance that no more offers will be made at all. According to Bos, it should not get that far, because an important principle of municipalities and the public transport agency is to guarantee the transport of people who depend on it.
