Shopping at this time of year has something magical with all those lights. You will not get bored of all those beautifully decorated shop windows and the choice of beautiful (Christmas) gifts is endless. If you want to combine your Christmas shopping with a real day out, take the tram or bike to historic Delft . Along the cozy canals and streets of this city you will find nice boutiques and small, original shops where you can enjoy shopping.

The big advantage of Delft is that everything is within walking distance and there are several shopping areas : each shopping area has its own charm and character. We recommend a number of areas (and shops!) that you definitely don’t want to miss. A nice bonus when shopping in Delft: you temporarily save for free parking. Read on the last page how to do that!

Hip shops along the canal

Delft is known for its beautiful canals. And the selection of specialty shops is huge. For example, along the Voldersgracht you will find many fashion and concept stores. You are guaranteed to succeed at Femme + Frenkie for a new jacket or sweater. Pleck is the place to go for trendy clothes and jewelry, but they also have cozy home accessories.

At Knotten you get everything you need for a warm scarf that you knitted yourself and for the Vinyl fan there are record stores Velvet Music and Plexus recommended. A visit to Kek or LOT, the most famous coffee shops in Delft, will complete your shopping day.

Walk through to the Hippolytusbuurt and the Wijnhaven: here you will find boutiques such as Strellson Delft, Steendam Herenmode , De Winkel, De Showroom Delft and Jolie Jacqueline. And of course plenty of spots to eat and drink something like De Kleine Griek or LEF Restaurant & Bar.

The Market

The Market is the ideal place to get presents and souvenirs. At Milo Design Gifts you will find special gifts and at UNFOLD you will find nice clothes and shoes. At Madame Blue Delftware, Heinen Delfts Blauw and at House of Vermeer you will find traditional Delft Blue souvenirs and beautiful interior items. And for coffee and tea lovers: at Simon Levelt they offer a large (and constantly changing) range.

Recommended: drop by at De Salamander. A drugstore and herbal store decorated in the style of the beginning 1900 already still has the good of the past. It’s like stepping into that time yourself! Drink a nice warm cup of coffee afterwards at Het Konings Huys or grab a beer in one of the nice bars.

Burgwal & De Beestenmarkt

De Burgwal is the place to be for plant lovers. At Groene Vingers you can find plants in all shapes and sizes and they also sell many trendy home accessories. Across the street you will find La Flora Rijne with a huge range of unique pots and vases in addition to plants. Dille & Kamille is the place to be for indispensable basics and tasty gadgets. For Vinyl fans we recommend Sounds, you are guaranteed to come across an LP that is still missing in your collection.

From the Burgwal, a trip to the cozy Beestenmarkt is easily made. It is bursting with the cozy Delft hospitality industry. When you are recharged after your drink or snack, you can continue shopping at Bij Marlies, for example, which now has two stores diagonally opposite each other. Walk around the corner and you will arrive at the Molslaan. On the Molslaan you will find Loco Lama (with a beautiful shop window) and many fine clothing stores.

De Zuidpoort and De Veste

In the modern shopping area De Zuidpoort you will find well-known chains such as H&M, ESPRIT, JACK & JONES, ICI Paris XL and The Sting. Are you looking for decoration at home or gifts? Then visit the CASA or So Low.

You will also find the cinema and theater De Veste a few minutes’ walk away. End your day of shopping with a delicious lunch at Sevenhills or Moodz.

This way you save for free parking

If you come by car, you don’t have to worry about sky-high parking costs. You can easily save this because you receive a parking ticket with a purchase at the participating retailers and catering establishments .

Ask the entrepreneur for the conditions and show your parking ticket at checkout. You save 1 hour of free parking per store. You can use the parking balance immediately when paying in the participating parking garage or you can save the accumulated credit for a later moment in the promotion period. Lots of shopping fun!

For the sporty types: you can of course also just cycle to Delft! Photo: Michael Kooren photography
