The Hague has so many wonderful restaurants, coffee shops and cafes. Which, especially now, deserve all the credit. But yes, only one can win the Hague Horeca Beurs award for ‘Best newcomer in The Hague’. Café Annabel (a bistro pub, dining room and cocktail bar) went there with the price off. We spoke to owner slash cocktail man Erikson Almeida Lima about how he managed that: “I am extremely grateful .”
Hospitality entrepreneurs, suppliers, managers, (chef) cooks or staff: there is a good chance that they were present on 9 and 10 November during the Haagse Horecabeurs in the Big church. The party was traditionally concluded with award ceremonies in various categories, of which
the five winners have now been announced.
Love for the profession
The prize for Best Newcomer went to Café Owner Erikson is very proud: “I really had this prize unexpected. We have just started so to win such an award is a huge honor.”
Why did Erikson win, do you think? “I am a catering man in heart and soul. I only go for the best: the best cook and the best service. I love my profession and so do my colleagues. We really give our guests a night out and I constantly make sure that they feel welcome. I think that’s why I won.”
