And that answer means good news for the children from the neighbourhood, because the community center is getting a new playground!
Play Island
Children from the neighborhood were able to play in July of this year choose from two designs for the new playground. Most children chose the design with a play island. That is now being worked on, so that is why the playground will remain closed until December.
Opening party
In December 2021 there will be an opening party for the new playground. “The children who helped choose are welcome, and their friends are of course also allowed to come along,” according to the municipality. In the meantime, the children can play in one of the playgrounds nearby. Such as in the Wieringsestraat, the van Boetzelaerlaan, the Frederik Hendriklaan or the playground on the Van Sint Aldegondeplein.

A million for the playgrounds
It doesn’t stop at the playground at the Mallemok. The Municipality of The Hague has earmarked one million euros to renovate various playgrounds in the city. The playground on Notenplein will also be tackled, and next year it will be Hondiusplein in Segbroek, Arendsdorp in Haagse Hout and Stuwstraat in Laak. “Per playground there is a budget of 14.000 euros for the adjustments. There is also an annual 2752. extra euros available for replacement of play facilities in the city”, reports The Hague FM.
