The Hague Municipal Council approved Arjen Kapteijns as the new alderman for Social Affairs and Work on Thursday, 7 October. He will succeed Bert van Alphen, who resigned on 13 September 2021.

Kapteijns was a member of The Hague Municipal Council for more than 8 years, including 6 years as leader of GroenLinks. In addition to serving in the Municipal Council, he has worked for more than 20 years for the government in various positions.
